The Public Safety Dispatcher is a vital member of the City of Purcell’s 911 Communications Center, responsible for receiving, evaluating, and dispatching emergency and non-emergency calls for service. This position provides communications support for multiple agencies, including:

Minimum Qualifications: • High school diploma or GED required. • Must be at least 18 years of age. • Must successfully pass a background investigation and drug screening. • Ability to obtain and maintain: o Oklahoma Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (OLETS) certification. o Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certification. o CPR certification. o Other required state and national certifications within established timeframes. ________________________________________ Preferred Qualifications: • Previous experience in emergency communications or public safety dispatch. • Knowledge of McClain County agencies and jurisdictional procedures. • Familiarity with CAD and NCIC systems.
Working Conditions: • 24/7 operation, including holidays and weekends – shift work required. • Sedentary office work in a secure communications center. • Prolonged periods of sitting, wearing a headset, and viewing computer screens. • High noise levels due to radios and telephone activity. • Exposure to graphic, distressing, or emotionally charged situations via audio. ________________________________________ Work Schedule: • Full-time with shift rotations including day, evening, overnight, weekends, and holidays. • Overtime or emergency call-ins may be required.
